Passengers, in transitory space and out of time. A peculiar atmosphere that characterizes both the night portraits of German artist couple Dagmar Keller and Martin Wittwer, that were taken at a bus station somewhere in Poland, and the shiny, glittering shaped canvases of Árpád Forgó. Pale light, steamy bus windows, blurred distant looks. Unreachable closeness, sensual plasticity, changing of dimensions. The exhibited works create a bizarre context for each other. The show is a challenging experiment to introduce diverse universes having common grounds through the means of contemporary photography and painting.

The artists first met in 2018 during the residency program of The Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. Hybridart Space is hosting their first show together.

Dagmar Keller (Germany, 1972) and Martin Wittwer (Switzerland, 1969) have collaborated as an artists duo since 1997, creating extensive photographic cycles, film and video installations. Their artistic practice could be described as “work on the image”, on both the still and the moving image. They are interested in questions regarding our perception, as well as forms of representation and their relation to reality. Inspiration for their artwork they find mainly in phenomena in their surroundings. The artist-duo has presented its artworks internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including Taipei Fine Arts Museum, MACBA, Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona and Kunsthalle Nürnberg. Their book dummy, Passengers, which includes works from Hybridart Space exhibiton, won the Dummy Award 2012 of the 5th International Photobook Festival, Paris.

Árpád Forgó (Budapest, 1972) is interested in experimental painting. He is creating shaped canvas works, which are built from a pre-defined modular system, where structure, shape, measurements and rhythm as well as the planar and spatial relationships are in the focus of his research. Artist-in-residence programs had significant effect to his art. He has been invited to the USA, Australia, Norway and Poland. His works have been exhibited in art institutions, including Ludwig Museum and Vasarely Museum in Budapest and Ritter Museum in Waldenbuch, Germany. Grantee of The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, USA.
